For our 1st project, we decided to build our own bike with minimum cost but decent quality. Got to admit, I am newbie in bicycle field. Not that I can’t cycle but to build a bike…huh? But because of my high spirit (maybe stupid?), I confidently decided to proceed with the project.

I never knew anybody that can build a bike. So I decided to get advice from a bike shop taiko nearby my home.
Mtbnoobs : Hi sir, can I ask you about building a bike…tools and everything?
Owner : What building a bike. Everything is already comes complete set.
Mtbnoobs: Owh really?
Owner : Yes, why need to build? Waste your time only. You want to buy a bike. Here a good one for you.(pointing to a very very fake, ugly bianchi with shimano SIS groupset)
Mtbnoobs : How much?
Owner : RM1500.It’s cheap. Bianchi is a good brand.
Mtbnoobs : Wow. So cheap.(Faking my face. I’m an online trader demit!! I know it is fake and what that bike cost in China).Ermm But I just want to buy bicycle part and tools only. Do you sell any?
Owner : I sell bicycle parts (showing all his china no brand part).But no tools. Hey, buy the bianchi…I can sell to you at RM900 only. Just don’t tell anybody
Mtbnoobs : Owh it’s ok. Let me think first. Thank for your advice btw.
First attempt: Failed.
I not blamming the shop owner for not giving me any advice. It is just how everything is overpriced in Malaysia and how our situation that not favor us to do things by ourselves.
I think it’s time to turn to our friendly adviser, problem solver, the best GURU in the world: The Internet
So, here is my best guru. I pick all the simplest video on how to building a bike here. Hope it will also help anybody that has the same minded and as stupid as me. Lets build the bicycle!!
